I was grateful for the extra hour of sleep that we got this morning since the clocks were set back one hour because of the time zone change. Today, we took a speed boat to James Bond Island.

Below are some pictures of our way there.

We arrived to the island and were the first boat there, which was good, because by the time we left, it was quite crowded.

On the other side of the island, there were these shady characters hanging out. They were more than willing to pose for a picture!

After James Bond Island, we went to a fishing village. The following pictures were taken there.

We had to walk through a bunch of shops where they were selling many things. They let us taste the Cashew Nut (in pic below), and it was delicious! I wish I had time to buy some to bring back to the boat. Spicy and sweet.

There was also a school on the island and even though it was a Saturday, the kids were there selling fans and other trinkets to make money. There was even a class in session (not too shabby of a view). Leslie and I both bought fans because if was really hot and humid.

Back to the boat for the hour and a half ride back.

Since our trip to Sri Lanka was cancelled, we had extra time in Thailand, so rather than going back to the ship, eight of us rented a taxi van and went to Patong Beach. We just walked along the beach and had a nice cold beer (Chang) that tasted so good because it was so hot!

Next, we hopped in a Tuk Tuk (words which I enjoyed saying and probably annoyed Leslie a lot) to Karon Beach, known for its shopping and restaurants. Below is a picture of a Tuk Tuk from our Tuk Tuk.

We bought silk robes that we could wear in our rooms after showering, and a couple of scarves. Then, we settled on a place for dinner. We shared some lobster, and green chicken curry – 2 of my favorites, and a mango daiquiri (Leslie had a Mai Tai).

We got to pick our lobster. I picked it up and it was alive and kicking!

We took a last look at the beach and then headed back to the ship in another Tuk Tuk (I knew I could get that word in again) that had disco lights and was playing the music, Kung Fu Fighting, of all things.

Next up - Langkowi, Malaysia...
