We found out today that the cruise cancelled our Sri Lanka destination and replaced that day with another stop in Malaysia - Langkowi. We’re excited for that, but one less country to knock off my Bucket List :(

Today, we had our first ship excursion to Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si Temple.

We took the venicular car up to the tallest point on the island.

Locks of love Local girl View from the top

Then, we took the bus to Kek Lok Si Temple and climbed many stairs in the heat and humidity. We had to take another venicular car to the top.

Rather than get back on the boat after our excursion, we had a few hours before our cruise ship was leaving, so we decided to walk around Georgetown and have some lunch at a local Malaysian restaurant. It was VERY local! I’m glad we had pills to take with our food to prevent us from getting food poisoning, salmonella, etc. it was pretty sketchy, but crowded, so we thought we’d give it a shot.

This is the place we ate at - view from the outside.

We survived unscathed and headed back to the ship after a little shopping and walking. We were exhausted and sweaty, but enjoyed our stay here.

Your guess is as good as mine as to what this is...

p.s. Internet has been difficult to come by, so be patient if it takes a few days to post or respond to emails and texts.
